Oleotourism
What is "oleotourism"?
Have you ever wanted to spend a day among olive trees, discover how oil is produced, or learn about the different varieties of olives? Then oleotourism is for you. This oil-focused tourism aims to introduce the main characteristics and production stages of olive oil, a product as tasty and healthy as few others.
Many people already enjoy oleotourism. Nearly 60% of oleotourists are Spanish, but the French and English are also very interested in Spanish olive oils. Oleotourism is also very well suited to family outings.
These tours take place mainly in Andalusia, in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, and along the Mediterranean coast, where a large part of Spanish olive oil production is concentrated. There, you discover the history of olive oil and organize visits to these olive-covered lands, to the "almazaras" – the mills where this delicious product is made – and to restaurants where olive oil is the main ingredient.
These tours are completed by tastings of different varieties of olive oil or by massages and beauty treatments: honey and oil face masks, an egg and olive oil mixture for shinier hair, or massages that moisturize the skin. In addition to a beautiful day in the countryside, you will leave looking radiant!
Visiting one of the main olive oil-producing regions of Spain and traveling, for example, the Sierra de Cazorla route, the Molino de Zafra, or the Kingdom of Granada, is such a pleasant experience that you will never forget it. Travelers discover where the oil is made, historical anecdotes, and the charm of these magnificent places.
